Kindred Spirits

The chance meeting
of a kindred spirit,
if there is such a thing
as chance,
is a magical moment
of music inaudible
to all
but the heart,
of light invisible
to all
but the mind,
which knows
without thinking
the resonance
of souls.

No words
need be spoken
a harmony,
a connection,
some magnetic exchange
in an anonymous look,
in a brief encounter,
in a ride in a bus,
or in passing in life,
where no names are exchanged
no outward acknowledgement
but a recognition
of a shared mission
of a shared temperament
of a shared compassion.

In each other is seen
a sister or brother
something in the eyes
that doesn't exist
in another
but only in a soul
that has come to bring
to this earth
the same energy
of heart
of mind
of chemistry
into the mix
into the bouquet
into the culture
of humanity.
