Leadership (part
1: introduction)
excerpt
from the book World
Diplomacy (2nd. ed.)

In
order for diplomats to be leaders of humanity in the
field of international politics, they must follow criteria
for leadership which benefit the common good:
1.
Leaders have a positive vision of the future.
2. Leaders consider the needs of people and the environment.
3. Leaders are dedicated to solve the problems of the
planet.
4. Leaders create cooperation and hope.
Leaders
are responsible for the welfare of humanity. Their
actions and their words shape world events. Citizens
of all nations put their faith in their diplomats to
create a better life, and their own attitudes and outlook
on life are influenced in a major way by the attitudes
and behavior of the diplomats. Diplomats can create
friends or enemies for their country, directly influencing
their citizens' welfare. In so doing they create the
psychological and moral climate in the world which
impacts the prosperity of all people. Leaders in diplomacy
give direction which the course of history follows.
Thus, it is imperative that diplomats above all represent
the highest, most positive expression of leadership.
